What Supplies Are Often Left Out of an Outdoor Airsoft Battle?

Being unprepared for any recreational sport or activity can severely diminish the fun factor. Paying attention to the small details when packing your supplies is crucial. Safety and remaining healthy are hand in hand when it comes to outdoor recreation including airsoft battles.

A recent mountain hiking trip prompted me to bring attention to an often overlooked part of many recreational activities. That being appropriate and adequate personal supplies. These are vital to every outdoor sport including airsoft squirmishs. While ascending and descending a 14,000 ft. mountain, I was reminded how quickly one’s body can run down and/or breakdown without appropriate hydration and calorie intake to replace what is being used. In the case of our one day hiking trip; we made a trek over 26 miles in 13 ½ hours while going up 7300 ft. in elevation, then back down. Running out of water or low on power snacks could have resulted in a very serious situation. Let’s not forget a simple but small first aid kit which would allow a stressed knee or ankle to stabilize while getting back to home base is also important. We all agreed that packing the extra weight of water in the beginning was without a doubt well worth it. The power snacks we hauled with us did not amount to much weight and was a no brainer. Our first aid pack did not take up much room and was used when my knee locked up at 13,500 ft. Without the ace bandage, the trip down could have been very miserable.  This kit proved to be just as important as our water and protein snacks.

While a 13 ½ hour mountain climb may not compare directly to an afternoon airsoft battle, the facts of personal safety and health remain the same. They are a vital consideration. By the time we gear up and hit the battlefield with all of our equipment on a warm afternoon, our bodies expend a tremendous amount of energy and without much notice could rebel with a slight shut down when you need it most. To remain healthy and able to compete at an optimal level, you must have access to water, a small protein boost, and always first aid supplies.

Ensure you remain competitive. Go prepared. Look at it like this. Would you enter an airsoft battle with no ammo for your very best airsoft gun? If you do not have access to personal supplies, you just entered the game without ammo for your ultimate weapon; your body. Always remain safe and healthy during your airsoft recreational play.
